Wicca 101 – Magick Correspondence, Colors’ Magickal Powers will discuss: Colors’ Magickal Awesome Power, The Purpose of Color, Colors and Their Magickal Purpose, Colors of the Week, Elements
Colors Magickal Awesome Power
Colors’ Magickal Awesome Power is that it is its own energy that ebbs and flows through our daily life. Colors’ Magickal power is the type of magick that has been used throughout history in many different cultures and some people use it today without even knowing why or where it originated. So, I thought it appropriate to start with color correspondence in this part of my Wicca 101 series I will call Magick Correspondence.
When working with colors’ magickal powers you need to think of the energy you are seeking and how you achieve this through a color. Some ways are by colored candles, colored magickal tools, colored incense, colored clothing or material. It is used for color magick, candle magick, spells, potions, rituals, psychic work, worship, invocations, and altar devotions.
Color Magick can be open to interoperation, so do not let this be the last word on color magick. Let this just serve as a guide to follow when in doubt. If every source you find recommends blue for your spell, but you feel that it should be red, then use red. Trust yourself! It’s all about the energy you produce by what you believe that color represents.
My favorite color is blue. It’s my power color. Is that the first color witches gravitate towards…well no, but it’s my power color. I feel awesome in it, and I believe I absorb energy needed to get my magick flowing and that is what works most of the time. Now if we are talking about specific spell instructions and ingredients, well they are usually best as recommended but it doesn’t make it wrong to change it up if you feel the need.
The Purpose of Color
Each color has a specific correspondence– a magickal meaning, energetic vibration, and use. For instance, green increases prosperity, while white purifies and heals. Each color has a specific frequency and energy type that Wiccans can harness and use in their magickal applications. Match the right candle color to its application, and see the power of your spellcraft rapidly increase.
Colors can be used in isolation, to create a concentrated and focused effect. They can also be combined, to create a blended and balanced magickal result. Similarly, spells may call for a single colored candle to achieve a specific end. Or, they might call for one candle color to represent one aspect of the spell, and another candle color for a different aspect.

Colors and the Elements
CELTIC TRADITION; the four elements unified by spirit were the basis of Celtic magick. The Druidic universe contained four elements unified by balance. The Chinese work with five elements, each with its own correspondences. Some traditions count spirit, sometimes called ether or akasha, as a fifth element.
These are my go-to colors for elements and for candles representing the Quarters.

- AIR: Yellow
- FIRE: Red
- WATER: Blue
